Spoke to an old friend today about the changes. He actually said that "he doesnt care if the GB are right or wrong - they are still Jehovahs chosen mouthpiece".

The Jehovah's Witness religion has ''Jumped the Shark''
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwhat does jump the shark mean?.
the phrase “jump the shark” is a term in pop culture that originated from the tv show “happy days” and is used to describe a decline in quality.
it refers to the moment when a tv show or other product has reached its peak and starts to decline in quality.

I thought 'jump the shark' meant they had run out of new ideas, however, judging by the last couple of years, the GB seem to be full of new ideas.

If you are serious about depression or loneliness my advice would be to go and see a psychologist and join gym classes. If you want to save money, just join the gym. You will feel better, make friends and join in social events.

Just another topic where the WT has taken a different stance, for no other reason than to set them apart from 'Christendom'.
The evidence indicates that crucifixion was not the same for everyone. There were various styles- some punishments involved a simple stake, others used a cross beam. Some people were hung upside down, others in different ways for amusement. Some used ropes and not nails, Sometimes there was a seat- or horn that protruded into the persons private areas, to make the ordeal more excruciating.
There is evidence in a crucified skeleton from around the time of Jesus that had the nails driven into the sides of the ankles and therefore, no footrest was used.
In summary, there were various methods of crucifixion and and no one can say for certain which crucifixion method was used on Jesus and it doesnt really matter. Even the gospels are not eyewitness accounts.

Governing Body's failed doctrines blamed on Jehovah's gradual revealment
by RULES & REGULATIONS inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh9w8zmgli0.
( starts at the 21:00 minute mark ) governing body member jeffrey winder reveals the real reason for the failed doctrines throughout the watchtower's 150 year history.
he claims that the governing body are neither inspired or infallible.. the governing body do not need to apologize for getting doctrines wrong.. the governing body ''do their best with what they have and what they understand at the time.''.

If an idea is subject to change, don't promote it as light from Jehovah in the first place.
Maybe that would be a way to avoid future doctrinal problems?

Is there “new light” on 1914?
by wallsofjericho ini’m hearing paraphrasing like “we just don’t know” .
is this regarding 1914?
or micheal the arch angel?.

It is something that will have to be changed again at some point. 2024 seems like a good year to do it, a nice round 110 years since 1914.
This is an announcement that could go along with a softening of the shunning policy, as a lot of dubs will probably struggle with this.

2023 Yearly Report UNDER the Microscope
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/pi7sn2rnrke?si=lnvklqct6nuayv2q.
branches of jehovah’s witnesses: 85 (= down one from 86 from the previous year and quite possibly they are referring to the hong kong bethel that closed down recently).
number of lands reporting: 239 ( =the same as 2022).

So what happens next...
by Farmer Jim1 inwith what is arguably the biggest change to jw life in recent decades (the scrapping of publishers counting hours) what does this lead to?.
in my mind these are the results;.
1) a massive decrease in 'preaching hours'.

The org has made a killing in property investment over the decades. I wonder how much of their income these days comes from property and shares?
The gb has set up the org now that the average dub must be starting to feel less invested - black screens on zoom, ticking a box for reporting hours. Its turning into nothing more than a social club that watches videos while sporting the latest hipster beards.
No more quick builds to bring people together, witnessing fading into the background, half full Kingdom halls. It is a recipe that would seem to equal less donations in the future , so they must be counting on other revenue streams to survive.

A Modest proposal to solve the 1914 problem
by r51785 inthroughout watchtower history dates have been a problem.
the usual solution for failed prophetic dates has been to kick the can down the road.
this needs to be done with 1914. the generation that will never pass away is now 110 years old and therefore is past its useful life span.

Article 1 is strange and twisted.
Because a made up class called the 'Faithful and Discreet Slave' were not formed until after 1919, anything written before then could not have been true?
The same class today, after over 100 years in existence admits to being un-inspired and having no special knowledge and anything written by them is subject to change. At the same time they expect everything they say to be taken as seriously as if god had said it.
Once again, trying to have it both ways. Article 1 discounts 1914 as a valid teaching and yet article 4 says all of Jesus's prophecies revolve around 1914.
